Since Australian fashion week is fast approaching I thought I'd give a little blurb blee blop about one of my favorite Australian labels...Ellery. I could show you their Fall 2012 campaign, but it was their Resort 2011 one that particularly struck me. I want to jump inside their campaign photos, they all just look so dreamy...And yet, I still can't help myself from joking about them. So help me.

Sleek beige pant-suit of sorts. Not sure where someone would wear this, but I like it.

Cut to model slinking around in sequins and long white dress. I'm not looking at the camera, yes I am, I'm staring into your soul.

Here we find a depressed Rosie the Riveter of sorts, lounging in a field. So casual.

Finally we meet the wild and elegant Ellery Bird. If it were yellow, it would have an uncanny resemblance to my favorite fowl...

Anyways, the point is, Ellery is the word. And, contrary to what you may believe now, I do indeed like that dress, ain't nothing wrong with channeling your inner Big Bird. Hence, Yellery.

Click HERE for Ellery's website (that is also where I got the photos from).

Peace out, cub scout.

Enter: My Mind

This post is long and rambling at times. But read and you shall be rewarded. With enlightenment of course.

"I love your outfit but I could never pull it off." Now, someone tell me what that is supposed to mean?! Most of us have had that said to us at some point, provided that you have some sort of sense of style, and if you haven't had that said to you, just pretend you know what I'm talking about. Let's think about this for a moment, it is quite an ambiguous compliment, if it can even be considered a compliment at all. Maybe I'm overanalyzing this statement, but I mean come on, I'm a teenage girl, what do you expect me to do? Anyways, I think that this statement, more than anything, showcases a classic case of insecurity and self-doubt, what have you. Maybe it's just me, though I doubt it, but I don't see what it is that holds people back from, well, simply wearing the stuff they like. It's most certainly true that what you wear is one of the first things people notice about you and even more true (if that makes any sense) that people will inadvertently, and most likely sub-consciously judge you about how you look, which doesn't always have to be a bad thing. As long as you wear what you like to wear, do what you wanna do.
(This photo has nothing to do with this post except for the fact that it is in keeping with the denim on denim theme that I talked about a few days ago. I also thought it would improve the visual appeal of this post blahh blah blahh. Photo via Vanessa Jackman.)
And yet, with all of this comes another confusion/concern...not sure what to call it, but it has to do with the difference between two things. Recognizing that there indeed is a difference between dressing crazy just to gain attention or even to fit in (disclaimer: "crazy" doesn't necessarily mean insane. more just different in this instance)and dressing crazy because thats what the said person feels best in or because they are simply crazy themselves. I understand if you're bored of this post because it is so flippin' wordy but if you're still with me, stay with me, I'm not done. There happens to be a very fine balance between these two kinds of people, in other words, they both need each other to exist. The fake-crazy dressers need the authentic ones to copy, while the authentic ones need the fake ones in order to remain authentic. I hope that made sense. I deleted and rewrote that sentence about two-thousand times before settling on that version. Yet, what I really mean by saying that, is there will always be people who are trying to be something they are not, this also seems to be a main theme (unfortunately) in my high school this year. And still, even with all the fake authenticity out there, the true "authentics" are the ones who shine in the crowd, and remain unmistakable.

Even if you aren't a high schooler like me, I think that this applies to all of us in some way, shape, or form.

On Denim and it's Moment

Well I guess it's not really a moment considering that denim is always "in" in some form or another. This season it seems to have taken a turn for the distressed, yet no matter when or where, with denim, you can't go wrong. Therefore I guess you could say this is my personal tribute to the peoples relationship with denim. Some of my personal favorite shots of people paying their own respects to it. Hail to the all-American textile. Long may it live and ever may it be in style. I did not rhyme that on purpose.

I like yo rips.

Oh, hey, Man Repeller. Nice jeans.

Holy Boyfriend Jeans its Jenna Lyons! That neon satchel ain't so bad either I must admit.

Philip Lim you rock my world. Everyone, this vest converts into a backpack... pure genius.

Well I don't really know what to say for this one except for that she's very, very cool and knows it.

This is a classic you-just-can't-get-it-wrong-even-if-you-tried kind of outfit. Pulled off exceptionally well, however.

I thought this one was a good one to end with. It's simple and worn down, but still beautiful. Which is what denim seems to be all about anyways, right?

While browsing...

HOLA. I take French at school not Spanish. This has absolutely nothing to do with this here post. Anyways...I am in need of new Summer clothes as I've outgrown most of mine from last year! I was browsing the internet, Topshop to be exact, and came across piece after piece that I found myself saying to myself "This is the coolest thing I've ever seen!" "I really do need a pair of silk running shorts!". I have a problem with talking to myself sometimes, but you get the point. This is all too good to be true bah-dum chh.

I'm honestly not quite sure why I added the numbers. They don't mean anything. All of these items can be found at Topshop. As you can see, all of the colors are relatively muted. This happened by accident as I'm not sure why I was drawn to the likes of navy and army green. My favorite piece here is by far the overalls. There are really no words to describe those beauties. I hope y'all enjoy, get inspired, what have you. Happy browsing people!

For the Meantime...

Behold, shoes that can help you pass your chemistry test...
I don't know where to buy them...but these would come in handy in school next year! I have a post on my top Spring/Summer picks coming up, so stay tuned people! Down I shalt not let thee.

Romeo and Juliet is getting to my head, and I'm not even done with Act 1. So help me.

This is unfortunate, I essentially want my hands on every piece from the new MR DANNIJO collection. Alas, that will not happen yet I'm sharing my top three favorites with you anyways.

From the left Loolee, Eyenstein, and Betty Davis. I'm not kidding though, how awesome are these?! Hope you enjoy the eyecandy. Off to read the first three scenes of Romeo and Juliet for English homework.

"Two households, both alike in dignity/ (In fair Verona where we lay our scene),/ From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,/ Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean"...
-Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet

And with that...Peace out cub scout.

Color-Block on Top, Prints Below

Hey everyone!! Here is what I wore today, and will probably also wear to school at some point this week (with an extra layer to make it dress-code proof of course!). This coming week may be busy, I'm warning you, but I do have some good stuff planned so get pumped. Hope you enjoy these!

Clearly, I have turned into a ghost, there is no other possible explanation for the above photograph...

My feet are just so...interesting. But really, I was trying to make this look like a magazine editorial. A mediocre one. Please ignore the electrical socket in the background, thanks.

I couldn't decide whether or not to use this picture. On one hand, it proves to you that I was, indeed, wearing shorts. On the other, even I can't tell if I was mid-smile, in the process of talking, or forming some kind of evolved duck face. So, let me just distract you with meaningless sentences such as this one.

And the obligatory detail shot. I love this necklace so much it hurts. My friend got it for me for my birthday this past year and I basically try to find a way to wear it with everything. So help me. Unfortunately I can't remember where that jacket is from as I've had it since I was in the 7th grade! However the top and shorts are from Urban Outfitters. Have a good last bit of your weekend!

Lazy Saturday

Yes, yes, I'm still alive. I know I said I would start posting more often and then that didn't really happen, but now I have figured out the self-timer on my camera which will allow for me to post much more easily! Anyways, back to this post. For lazy Saturdays like this one, when all I want to do is relax, a worn in tee shirt (SAVE FERRIS!!!) and denim cut offs is my go-too. I threw on a denim vest too because who doesn't love a good old Canadian Tuxedo?

I love the way that these photos came out with a very grungy sort of gritty quality. (aka I didn't wipe down my lens!)Have a great Saturday everyone!
